No two participants are the same, and neither are their medication management plans! Webster packs are a Support Worker’s best friend along with a comfortable pair of shoes and our First Aid kits! At Helping Solutions, we pride ourselves on our customised and tailored approach to care which includes ensuring we understand the unique medication administration needs of our participants.
One of the ways we do this is by creating individuated care plans, that provide supports according to each participants needs—and we’re able to do this thanks to our in-house nursing team and the competency training that they offer to our Support Workers.
Medication management training
Our Support Workers are personally trained by our in-house nursing team on how to administer medication to participants.
This training includes:
- types of medication
- administration methods
- webster packs
- documentation, charts, storage
- incident reporting
- fact sheets
This ensures that each Helping Solutions Support Worker is competent in how to administer all kinds of medications—from oral to sublingual to creams and nasal drops—for a wide range of conditions. They are even trained in administering Schedule 8 medications in accordance with statewide regulations for our High Care participants. While Support Workers are trained to administer medications, they also have access to our highly trained Registered Nurses who will respond to any queries if the medication management plans are not straightforward.
Manage your routine medical needs with ease
We understand that managing medications comes with unique challenges. It shouldn’t be a struggle to manage when it’s a part of your everyday routine, and when assistance is required, Support Workers are here to help to the capacity that you need them.
So whether you need ongoing reminders, or assistance to administer the correct dosage in a specified way, our Support Workers make it easy to maintain your care needs from the comfort of your own home.
Helping Solutions Support Workers are also thoroughly trained in the use of various types of equipment and medication administration, enhancing your overall comfort and care. This includes (but isn’t limited to):
- Changing dressings and tending to your wounds
- Performing checks and monitoring any complications
- Caring for catheters and/or stoma bags
